Zimt Ceyloan has steadily evolved, establishing a strong foundation in the heart of Sri Lanka's cinnamon-growing region in the Southern Province, specifically in Kosgoda. The Nape mother estate spans 3 acres and has been a cornerstone of local cinnamon cultivation since 1975, initially serving the domestic market. In 2022, the next generation expanded the family business into the global market under the Zimt Ceyloan brand, continuing the legacy of quality and excellence. Since 2020, we have been adding additional estates to our portfolio, and in 2024, we will take a major step forward by incorporating leased estates for more robust production
Ceylon cinnamon, often referred to as "true cinnamon," is primarily grown in Sri Lanka, where it is a vital agricultural product. The industry is characterized by its smallholder farming practices, with many farmers cultivating cinnamon in family-owned plantations. Ceylon cinnamon is prized for its delicate flavor and aroma, as well as its health benefits, which include anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The production process involves careful harvesting and processing, with the inner bark being meticulously stripped, dried, and rolled into quills. The industry faces challenges such as competition from cheaper cassia cinnamon and fluctuations in global demand. However, increasing awareness of the health benefits of Ceylon cinnamon and its unique quality presents opportunities for growth in both local and international markets. Sustainable practices and certification initiatives are also gaining traction to enhance the industry's environmental and economic resilience
